Bio:
Coach Tom Lee started playing volleyball during his teen years, where he started playing nine-person volleyball (yes, there is such a thing). While attending University of Illinois (Urbana-Champaign) and studying computer science, he took many breaks to play intramural volleyball. After graduating, he relocated to the east coast and played on volleyball leagues and tournaments in New York and Connecticut. From there, Tom relocated to the west coast to play beach and grass doubles, California style. Not having had enough, he came back to Chicago to play some real volleyball.
Coach Lee took a decade of break from volleyball while raising his three kids and studying for masters in E-Commerce Technology at DePaul University. During that time he coached girls softball teams. When time came for his kids to play volleyball, Coach Lee got them started on the right track, and now they are all playing club volleyball. Having enjoyed watching his three kids play in club volleyball, he decided to give back to the volleyball community by coaching.
Coach Lee has playing experience in all positions, except libero, which did not exist during his playing days. His other athletic interests are basketball, softball, golf, and martial arts. His understanding of these other sports will help him better communicate his knowledge to the younger players. Coach Lee believes that younger players must spend more time understanding and executing the fundamentals, and be a well-rounded player. With it, you can't help but to improve, and improve quickly. He feels fortunate to have this opportunity to coach your daughters and hopes that he will make a positive impact on them.
